Veterans and Gold Star Families

Veterans and their families have played a key role in PeaceTrees since the organization was founded in 1995. By engaging veterans, donors and volunteers in citizen diplomacy trips, tree planting, and other projects, PeaceTrees helps to build trust and respect among former adversaries. Our two countries share a difficult history, but PeaceTrees’ projects unite individuals on all sides of the conflict to come together and look towards a future with the promise of peace and friendship.

U.S. veterans who fought for their country and often found little compassion upon returning home heal and find peace by working with PeaceTrees to achieve something positive and life-affirming. Parents, siblings, spouses and friends on both sides come together to share their sorrow for lost loved ones and to celebrate newfound understanding and friendship.
