What We Do

In partnership with Vietnamese leadership and local communities, we safely clear land of explosive remnants of war and support community-led development projects so that future generations can thrive

PeaceTrees Vietnam works to address the lasting impacts of war through fostering citizen diplomacy and building people-to-people ties, safely removing explosive remnants of war, returning land to productive use, and supporting education and economic development to ensure a prosperous and sustainable future for communities impacted by war. PeaceTrees’ work is rooted in mutual trust and collaboration, fostered through the support and partnership of local leadership, and an enduring commitment to building friendship and understanding between Vietnamese and American citizens.

PeaceTrees takes a holistic approach to addressing the legacy of war through their citizen diplomacy, humanitarian mine action, education, and community-led development programs.

Living on war-torn land that has been restored to safety helps individuals emerge from poverty and supports their ability to live healthy, prosperous, and happy lives. Our mix of programs helps to educate children and adults about the dangers of explosive ordnance, supports survivors of explosive accidents and their families through direct financial assistance and scholarships, and provides opportunities for educational and economic development throughout communities in central Vietnam.
