About the Trieu Dong Kindergarten

In Trieu Dong District in Quang Tri Province, the Trieu Dong Kindergarten is located in Nai Cuu hamlet. In central Vietnam, villages are heavily affected by the legacy of war, and land contamination has contributed to extreme poverty. In addition, Trieu Dong is often impacted by extreme weather and environmental hazards. The Trieu Dong Kindergarten provides the opportunity for children ages three to five to obtain early education. The kindergarten also provides healthy meals to malnourished students, as well as a safe place to play away from unexploded ordnance.
The kindergarten is comprised of two classrooms, has two teachers and can serve up to 60 students. Trieu Dong Kindergarten primarily provides learning opportunities for ethnic minority children who speak languages other than Vietnamese. The lessons enable these children to acquire vital Vietnamese language skills so that they are prepared to enter first grade in the Vietnamese school system.
